We keep natural gas gensets running on remote lease locations, powering compute equipment that sits right next to the wellhead. When an engine goes down, the site stops earning — so this role is the difference between a site that makes money and one that doesn't.
You'd be working on gas engines in the 800 kW to 1.5 MW class, on locations that are often an hour of caliche road from the nearest town. It's a hands-on job with a lot of autonomy and very little supervision, which suits some people and not others.
What you'd be doing
- Run-hour-based preventive maintenance — oil and filter changes, spark plugs, valve lash, coolant and fluid service
- Troubleshooting ignition, fuel, air, and cooling systems on natural gas engines
- Diagnostics with manufacturer software and controls — engine management systems, governors, protective relays
- Top-end work and in-frame overhauls, performed on location rather than shipping units out
- Load testing, commissioning new deployments, and verifying units under real load
- Basic switchgear, breaker, and control panel work on the generation side
- Keeping honest service records — run hours, parts used, what actually failed and why
- On-call rotation for site-down calls
What we're looking for
- Three or more years on industrial engines — natural gas strongly preferred, but a strong diesel background with gas exposure works
- Comfortable diagnosing a problem alone on location without calling someone for the answer
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude — you should be able to read a schematic and use a meter
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- Your own hand tools; we supply specialty tooling
- Able to work outdoors in West Texas heat, lift what the job requires, and handle remote locations
- Straight communication — if something is wrong, we want to hear it early, not after it grenades
Helpful, not required
- Time on CAT G-series, Waukesha, or Cummins gas platforms
- Experience with CAT ET, ESM, or Woodward controls
- Oilfield background — SafeLand or PEC, H2S awareness, lease etiquette
- Compression, gas conditioning, or wellhead equipment experience
- Any exposure to switchgear, transformers, or medium-voltage work

Straight about the work: this is field work in the Permian. It's hot, it's dusty, some locations are rough to get to, and equipment breaks at inconvenient hours. We're a small operation, so you'd be trusted with a lot early — and you'd occasionally be the only person on location solving something. If that sounds like the good part of the job, we should talk. If it sounds like the bad part, a dealer service department will treat you better.
Compensation
Based on experience and what you can actually do, and reviewed as the operation grows. We'll talk numbers on the first call rather than posting a range that means nothing until we know your background.
